Born in New York, the author was educated in Venezuela, Barbados W.I., Australia, and Switzerland, before retuning to the Choate School in Wallingford, CT. After two years of Civil engineering and another of applied mathematics, Mr. Rider transferred to Business School, graduating with a B.BA in Business Management.
Since
1975, Mr. Rider has been a full time "Commercial Real Estate Developer,"
working primarily on the West Coast. He has developed extensively
in California, Arizona, and Washington States.
Over
the past 25 years he has successfully developed 785,000 square feet of
commercial office space and 525,000 square feet of retail shopping center space.
Current projects
include 75,000 square feet of office and 425,000 square feet of retail space.As
a general contractor, he has managed the construction of 1 hotel, 1 paper
manufacturing plant, 8 restaurants, 3 office buildings, 3 commercial
subdivisions, and 23 miscellaneous buildings.
Before
becoming a real estate developer, Mr. Rider worked as a construction
superintendent and, later, as a real estate analyst for a major life insurance
company in its real estate investment department. His area of responsibility
included company-owned real estate (foreclosed properties), and new joint
ventures.
